Good Housekeeping Practices in Pharma Plant
1.0 PURPOSE:

- The purpose of this SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) is to lay down the procedure for housekeeping of the factory premises.
2.0 SCOPE – HOUSEKEEPING PRACTICES:

- This SOP is applicable to the following areas of factory premises of the pharmaceutical plant.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY – HOUSEKEEPING PRACTICES:

Housekeeping Supervisor shall be responsible for :
-

- Check that all areas of the Plant are clean as per our requirement on daily basis.
-
- Check the areas to be cleaned weekly and monthly.
-
- Issue the material daily as per the procedure to housekeeping workers.

- Maintain daily, weekly and monthly reports.
-

Executive- P&A/ Facility Management shall be responsible for :
-
-
- Check that all the areas of the plant are cleaned as per our requirement daily.
-
- Arrange the material for housekeeping.
-
- Check the area which is to be cleaned weekly and monthly.
-
- Check that all the records are maintained properly.
4.0 PROCEDURE – HOUSEKEEPING PRACTICES:

- Follow the cleaning frequency as shown below:

- Note: As and when required cleaning of all the above areas can be done and shall be recorded in the daily logbook.

- Clean the floor by sweeping with nylon broom.
-
- Mop the floor using 1.0% non-ionic Liquid Hemtop manually/machine.
-
- Disinfect with 2.5% Dettol solution for the first three days of the week & 10.0% Hemac 4 solutions for the next three days of the week by manually or by machine.
-
General Corridors in the Manufacturing area, Staircase, QC Laboratory, and Warehouse Area-

- Clean the floor of the staircase, warehouse, and QC Packing area by sweeping with nylon brooms or brush.
-
- Mop the floor using 1.0% non-ionic Liquid Hemtop with manually/machine.
-
- Disinfect with 2.5% Dettol solution for the first three days of the week & 10.0% Hemac 4 solutions for the last three days of the week by manually/machine.

Staff and workers change room and canteen

- Clean the floor by sweeping with nylon broom.
-
- Mop the floor using 1.0% non-ionic Liquid Hemtop with manually/machine.
-
- Disinfect with 2.5% Dettol solution for the first three days of the week & 10.0% Hemac 4 solutions for the last three days of the week by manually/machine.

Service area and Utility
-
-
- Clean the floor by sweeping with nylon broom.
-
- Mop the floor using 1.0% non-ionic Liquid Hemtop with manually with mop or mopping stick
-
- Disinfect with 2.5% Dettol solution for the first three days of the week & 10.0% Hemac 4 solutions for the last three days of the week by manually with mop or mopping stick.
-
All Toilets
- Clean the floor by sweeping with a nylon brush.
-
- Use Harpic solution to clean urinals and flush with water.
-
- Clean toilet with disinfectant i.e., 10.0% Hemac 4 solution and wash with 10.0% phenyl solution.
-
- Brush all washbasins with Harpic solution and wash with water. Washbasin with 10.0% phenyl.
-
- Check the air purifier (odonil) in all toilets and replace it when it is required.
-
- Put naphthalene ball into the urinal & change them at regular intervals.
-
- Check and replace the liquid soap solution pack in the soap dispenser
-
-
Doors, Door closers, Window glass, Racks, Tabletop
-
-
- Clean doors, door closers, racks, and tabletops with a clean moist cloth followed by cleaning with a dry cloth.
-
- Clean door glass and window glass with Colin solution wipe clean with dry mop or paper.
-
-
Walls, Ceiling fans, Tube light fixtures, Window grills, Change room lockers
-
-
- Clean wall surface, ceiling fans, tube light fixtures, and change room lockers with clean & dry cloth followed by cleaning with a moist cloth.

Outside premises including garden, roads, and drainage
-
-
- Cut the lawn in the garden by using lawn cutting machines from time to time.
-
- Remove the garbage found during the cutting operation and dispose of it.
-
- Clean all open drainage points outside the factory by removing dust, dried leaves, and grass.
-
- Sweep the road every day and collect garbage during sweeping operation and dispose of it.
